Mike Greene
CFO
and Partner FCCGI
From 1984 to 1991 Mike Greene was CFO, and later
Executive Vice President, of the steel service centre and metals trading
division of Federal Industries, a TSE listed conglomerate. This division owned
and operated a chain of steel service centres across Canada and the USA and,
therefore, had extensive internal trucking operations that were required to
deliver products to customers.
In 1992, Mike was appointed CFO of Federal
Industries (revenue in excess of $2 billion p.a.) which also owned and operated
one of the largest trucking businesses in Canada. Certain segments of these
trucking operations were under-performing, so Mike became significantly
involved in their operations. During 1994, Federal Industries was reorganized
to focus on its highly profitable metals operations and changed its name to
Russel Metals Inc. Mike led the new company in organizing and implementing its
acquisition program.
After leaving Russel in 1996, Mike consulted
to a number of different businesses including oil and gas exploration, call
centres, technologies for various applications. He was also significantly
involved in developing a strategic and business plan for the Canadian Natural
Gas Vehicle Association (CNGVA).
From 2004 to 2006, Mike was of a federally
funded program known as Fleet Challenge and was part of the team that
developed:
- The E3 Fleet program (which was launched by
Fraser Basin Council in November 2006);
- The BioFleet program which was built on
first developing prospective customer interest and then introducing producers
to the market that had been developed. This program now accounts for a very
significant percentage of biodiesel usage in Canada. "
- Technology - providing fleet managers with
the ability to verify manufacturers' claims and to encourage manufacturers to
get their products tested by ETV Canada under controlled conditions through
accredited laboratories.
In 2007, Mike partnered with Roger Smith in
owning and organizing Fleet Challenge Consulting Group Inc.
